We in the church office are always trying to figure out how to best get the word out on upcoming events. What do you think? Are the tools that we use now adequate? Should we develop a weekly email newsletter? Should we mail out a monthly newsletter? Give us your opinion...

On a similar topic, when we have a family in need, how should we get the word out?
For just general information, I like e-mail updates. I tend to be on a computer pretty much all the time, though, so I'm a bit biased.
For people in need...I suppose it depends on the need and the urgency. E-mail updates work for something that needs to be communicated, but not immediately. If somebody needs help *right now* then the phone is probably the best way to go.
Of course, a lot of people have cell phones with text chat capabilities...I don't know if there's a way to "bulk mail" text chat, but that might be an option for quick communication, too.
I think it's safe to say that blogging isn't a good way to get the word out...yet anyway. ;)
For the upcoming events I do like that the church has started the weekly email newsletters. I do like the idea of maybe a quarterly mailer. To bring different highlights that happen.
